What is CIF Number?
CIF an acronym for Customer Information File is an eleven digit unique number that contains your bank account details as well as your personal information which is required by the bank to set up your account.
The CIF number is constant, no matter how many accounts an individual has he/she will only have one CIF number linking all the accounts together.
SBT and SBH Amalgamation With SBI
On 31st March 2017, the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) officially became State Bank of India (SBI) with its merger with the latter. Following which the State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) also merged with the State Bank of India on the 1st of April, 2017. Within three months of their merger, all the SBT and SBH account numbers, passbooks and ATM cards were replaced with that of SBI’s.

How To Get CIF Number Via Offline Methods:
Method 1: CIF Number In SBI Passbook: You can find your CIF number offline as easily as you can online. All you have to do is check your passbook or cheque book. The CIF number is printed on the first pages of the passbook and the cheque book respectively.
Method 2: Find CIF with Helpline Numbers: You can ask for your CIF number by directly calling the SBT/SBI/SBH helpline number, which is ‘1800 11 2211, 1800 425 3800’ all you have to do is provide the customer care with the correct IVR and give your personal information such as your name, account number and your address after being verified they will let you know your CIF number, following this method you can get to know your CIF number of SBI without net banking and passbook.
Method 3: Find CIF by visiting Bank Branch: You can also visit the bank branch, they will make a similar inquiry about your personal details and once verified they will provide you with your CIF number.
How To Get CIF Number Via Online Methods:
Method 4: Find CIF Number Using Yono Lite SBI Mobile Banking App: Finding your CIF number is now at your fingertips, all you have to do is install the SBI mobile app which will give you access to your SBH/SBT mobile passbook and cheque book which is very convenient since then you can know your CIF number at any time anywhere, without having to carry your passbook around all the time.
Method 5: Find CIF Number Using SBI Net Banking: There is also the option of internet banking, for that there is a three-step process as following:
- Log in to the SBI’s internet banking : retail.onlineSBI.com/retail/login.htm facility with your username and password.
- Select the option of ‘Account Statement’ (e-statement) for a particular period of time
- Then your account summary page will be presented to you along with your CIF number.
